In her quest for Olympic gold, Canadian wrestler Erica Wiebe pushes herself to perform better every single day. So when she heard about Montreal-based NanoXplore Inc.’s innovations in graphene to enhance materials performance, Ms. Wiebe was intrigued and wanted to know more.

“I heard about the company from a classmate who is very interested in the sustainability space,” recalls Ms. Wiebe, who is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree. “It’s Canadian and it supports clean technology – I was immediately hooked.”

Ms. Wiebe, who won gold in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and is set to compete this July at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, subsequently called NanoXplore’s founder and CEO Soroush Nazarpour to find out what she could do to support the company.

He asked her to become the company’s brand ambassador. She accepted.

“We are aligned in our goals around sustainability and our desire to have a made-in-Canada solution to elevate performance,” says Ms. Wiebe.

“I hope to use my platform as an Olympic athlete to raise awareness about graphene’s potential to improve a vast range of materials and products, in ways that drive a more sustainable future.”
