BY GEORGE SOLEAS,
President & CEO
LCBO (Liquor Control Board of Ontario)
LCBO is proud to release our 6th annual 2024-25 Impact Report, which reflects on the significant progress we’ve made over the past year through our commitment to sustainability, industry collaboration and community investment.
Environmental stewardship remains a cornerstone of our business, and we have taken meaningful steps to reduce our carbon footprint and promote innovative practices. We also recognize the power of partnerships in driving industry-wide change. Working with suppliers, advocacy groups and leading community institutions, we have advanced priority initiatives and strengthened sustainability standards.
At the heart of what we do is our commitment to the communities in which we live and work. Through targeted fundraising and strategic investments, we have supported local businesses, empowered diverse entrepreneurs and provided critical resources to Ontario’s communities – including organizations tackling social inequalities.
As a purpose-led organization, we will continue to evolve our social impact initiatives, transforming our priorities into a comprehensive sustainability strategy following Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles that will drive our efforts well into the future.
Our newly evolved strategy builds on the impact of the Spirit of Sustainability, maintaining our signature pillars – Good Planet, Good People, and Good Partnerships – while making a conscious shift towards outcomes and building a strong platform to inspire action.
“As a purpose-led organization, we will continue to evolve our social impact initiatives, transforming our priorities into a comprehensive sustainability strategy following Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles that will drive our efforts well into the future. ”
As we embark on this transition, we remain focused on integrating environmental targets and elevating our social innovation across every facet of our operations. This evolution allows us to be more transparent, accountable and proactive in addressing challenges and opportunities.
Looking ahead on our sustainability journey, we are committed to ensuring that we meet the needs of Ontario’s diverse communities and that our employees feel invested in making a positive impact.
We are grateful to our customers, government, and public stakeholders, partners and other supporters who are helping LCBO build a more sustainable and inclusive future.
As one of the world’s largest wholesalers and retailers of beverage alcohol, LCBO is committed to providing meaningful contributions to the Government of Ontario and the people of our province. Through our annual multi-billion-dollar dividend, we continue to support public programs and services including health care, education and infrastructure across Ontario.
LCBO uses our Spirit of Sustainability platform to focus our collective energy on our key commitments and drive forward the meaning of being a purpose-led organization.
We know that our positive impact would not be possible without our generous customers, dedicated employees and industry partners.
In this year’s Impact Report, we showcase some of our shared accomplishments, several of which are highlighted below. We are also introducing our evolved sustainability strategy following our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles for the years to come.
